NAIMA BOCK HOLE

Naima Bock is a London-based folk musician, who's delicate sound is owed to the simplicity of her clam acoustic guitar and vocals. After her career as bassist in Goat Girl, Naima turned her attention more fully to her solo musical endeavours, playing gigs in East and South London, accompanied by a pianist, and releasing an organic stream of music, on her own terms. Recently, she has just dropped a series of four heart-renching new songs, that remain uncluttered, despite her use of experimental instrumentation on woodwind, percussion and harmonium. Part of the series is 'Hole', perhaps the simplest of the four new songs, despite the use of quirky instrumentation. From the solemn verse that utters lines like "inner pressure pushes on"set against acoustic strums, the songs ascends to the cathartic chorus, embellished with a tonne of percussion, as Naima explains: "looking for a camper-van, looking for a different band, hoping freedom soon will come." 'Hole' is seemingly a reflection of turbulence, but it also bestows feelings of hope and a want for positive change. -Ellie Rose-Davies
